Project: Video Jockey - Artist (Abo_Fahod_75)

"Behind the Scenes"

Known by his screen name, Abo_Fahod_75, works with some rather creepy photo manipulations all of which comes along with a theme of fantasy and surrealism (which you'll definitely see in some of his more abstract pieces). The use of textures, the intense focus on the eyes, the creepy vibe, all of which are particular elements in art that make me fall in love at first sight and that is exactly what Abo's images contain.

A good example of why this style would go well with my chosen song would be that I could throw all of these images in a slideshow along with my song and they would flow rather well together. But we want animated footage, not still images! I'd love to use his style though which seems to really create this closed-in atmosphere of confinement and fear, especially in the "Behind the Scenes" image which seems to be all about fear. I mentioned that I would like some sort of contrast for the glockenspiel portion of my song, so maybe using a pair of shining eyes could be an idea to expand on.

The techniques used are all quite simple. They start off as a high quality image, then thrown into Photoshop where they have all kinds of image adjustments and textures placed on to them. A few that come to mind would obviously be things like Curves and Levels, then some others like Hue/Saturation to change the colour of the eyes. The textures don't look flat either so I'm sure there was some usage of the Dodge and Burn tools used here to match the contours and shading of the face. I think the Liquify tool is also used quite heavily in some of his other images to achieve that distorted look.

Speaking of other images, here are a few more of his works:
